What Causes Misalignment?

1

Accident

Sudden disturbance or impact from hitting something such as a pothole, bumping into a curb, going too fast over a speed bump, or an accident can cause damage or movement of your suspension components which will change in your alignment.

2

Worn Suspension

Suspension components, like your shocks or struts can become worn or loose over time affecting the alignment. In this instance you'd most likely be replacing those components and an alignment is necessary following any suspension work.

3

Modifications

Vehicle modifications such as lifting. The suspension is intended to work within a specified height determined by the manufacturer. If the height of the vehicle is modified, the suspension must be adjusted as well, otherwise, you risk misaligning your vehicle.

Signs Your Vehicle is Misaligned

Alignment issues not only lead to discomfort while driving but also pose significant risks to your tires. Uneven wear caused by misalignment can drastically shorten the lifespan of your tires and increase the likelihood of a dangerous blowout while on the road. If your vehicle is displaying any of the following symptoms or has been involved in a recent collision, it's crucial to prioritize getting your alignment checked immediately to prevent further damage and ensure your safety:

  • Pulling to one side while driving.

  • Steering wheel not returning to the center position after turning.

  • Uneven tire wear, such as one side wearing faster than the other.

  • Vibrations or shaking felt through the steering wheel.

  • Recent collision or impact with potholes or curbs.

Ignoring these signs can lead to more extensive damage to your tires and other suspension components, potentially compromising your vehicle's safety and performance. Schedule an alignment check with us today to address any alignment issues and keep your vehicle running smoothly and safely.
